In full transparency, claw machines are a game of skill AND luck. We want our customers to be fully informed before spending hard-earned dollars in our arcade to avoid disappointment. While it’s true that the settings of claw machines can be adjusted to control the strength of the claw grip, and operators may choose to make them more challenging, it doesn’t mean they are scams. Our specific machines have three adjustable settings for strong, medium, and weak grip strength. On any given play, one of the grip options will be randomly chosen (as opposed to fixed where after a win, the claw grip gets progressively stronger until another win). We think a random setting is more fair than a fixed one for our customers. That being said, a prize can be won on any grip strength as long as it’s a good grab, albeit the strong grip will obviously have a higher probability of winning. We’d consider our settings to be more “loose” (easier) than most claw arcade establishments.
Our claw machines all have three prongs rather than two or four. In most cases, three-pronged claw machines are optimal. All of our machines have anti-skids (rubber grips) on all three claw prongs as well. Our employees are also trained to “help” (fluff the machine) if a customer is struggling to win. Our goal is for every customer to have fun and walk away with an amazing experience. Losing isn’t exactly a fun experience so we try everything we can to help while still trying to keep the lights on.
